On a daily basis here in Israel, we keep hearing of demands by countries including the US and the UK about the Mideast Peace Process and the Palestinians. We keep hearing threats by countries like the UK that say that if Israel doesn’t take steps to return to negotiations, they will recognize a Palestinian state.
And us Israelis, we’re here in shock, thinking to ourselves "What Mideast Peace Process?" The Palestinian have been refusing to negotiate with Israel for the past two years, so just how and why do you think it is Israel’s responsibility to provide a valid peace process.
But that’s just the beginning. Then we take a look at what was once the “Arab Spring” in which Arab peoples rose up against their dictator leaders to gain freedom. The result, Egypt is moving towards the Muslim brotherhood, the Egyptian people are calling to cancel the Peace Agreement with Israel, and have lost any benefits they thought they had gained since their revolution came to an end. Libyan are being massacred by their Dictator as he spits in the face of a weak international coalition that says they want him out but aren’t willing to take the steps required to evict him, and Syrians, the poor Syrians, are experiencing whole scale massacres on a daily basis, being attacked with tanks and artillery of Bashar Assad, trying to fight for their freedom as the world stand silent and politely requests that he “reform.”
I mean are you joking?
But then the best has yet to be mentioned. As if the Palestinians Leadership’s refusal to even sit down and talk with Israel for two years isn’t enough, they have now gone and reconciled with Hamas, an organization who uses their own civilians as human shields as they launch missiles at Israeli civilians, an organization that straps bombs to children and sends them into Israeli busses, an organization that mourned the killing of Osama Bin Laden, called him a martyr in the service of the Jihad and slammed the US government for killing him, an organization that just in the past few days since the Fatah/ Hamas reconciliation has been in the news has stated that 1. They will never recognize Israel, and 2. They will never Make peace with Israel.
And now the international community led by France’s Sarkozy and Britain’s David Cameron is threatening that if Israel, led by Binyamin Netanyahu doesn’t make progress in peace talks, they will support the Palestinian’s bid for a state in the United Nations?
This has got to be one of the saddest days on record. When the arab world is falling apart and the fallacy that Israel’s treatment of the Palestinian was the source of Arab anger has been smashed to bits, the world community can still only focus on a non-existent dialog with a population that democratically elected terrorists to govern them by a wide margin, and now openly states they will never recognize Israel.
So while the while America justifiably kills a terrorist that targeted and massacred innocent Americans, the United States, UK, France and others in the world community are demanding that the burden is completely on Israel, who must negotiate with those who refuse to negotiate with it, who must make peace with terrorists that not only refused to recognize Israel, but purposely targeted and murdered thousands of Israeli civilians over the course of decades.
Once again I have to ask, are you joking?
Instead of pretending there's even a hell's chance of peace with Hamas, and wasting time and energy trying to make Israel concede to terrorists and risk Israeli lives, maybe you should take the required action to protect the innocent protesters struggling for their rights being massacred in Libya, Syria and Iran, or at the very least, make very vocal pronouncements against leaders like Assad in Syria who are using tanks and artillery against his own citizens.
And the world wonders why Israel is paranoid and has no faith in international institutions or the international community?
